Chch II ensures squash title

Christchurch II completed a comfortable victory over Burnside I on Tuesday evening to ensure it would win the women's division one inter-club squash competition for 1981. The team was aided on the final night by a below-strength opposition, missing both Susan Wasley and Alrita Hooper. For Christchurch. Philippa Idour had to push her “ski" legs very hard to overcome a spirited Kathy Hargreaves. A few davs up in the snow did nothing for (her fitness. Agnes Huriwai lost to the bustling Donna O’Grady who has improved considerably this season, while Wendy Dodgshun was too severe for Jenny Abrahamson. Burnside 11. which appeared to have an outside chance before the round began, had to struggle to beat Sumner I, which pulled ■ off two upsets.

Joan Terrell unsettled the lefthanded Saskia O'Brien to score one of her best wins this season while Erin Henslev hit the ball hard and low to'beat an offcolour Mary Hunt. Lee North (Lancaster Park) produced another upset when she came from 0-2 behind against Lorna Symes (Christchurch I) to win in five sets.
