Wild-rivers meeting
' Raising public awareness of Canterbury wild and scenic rivers is the aim of a public meeting in the Ngaio Marsh Theatre this evening. The Canterbury Wild and Scenic Rivers Action Committee is organising the meeting. The committee’s secretary, Mr R. Johnson, said that few people were aware of the issues because the national protection
movement was so fragmented. Speakers will include a Wellington national campaign member (Mr D. Witherow), a Coalition for Open Government spokesman (Mr K. Johnston), the Labour member of Parliament for Papanui (Mr M. K. Moore), and the chairman of the North Canterbury Catchment Board (Mr. M. J. 0. Dixon).
