Style of a winner
Nicholas Donnelly, aged 14, is full of bounce after his recent success at the World Age Group trampolining championships in Brisbane. Nicholas, who travelled to Australia two weeks ago as part of the 13 member Canterbury trampolining team, carried off three medals, including two golds, for his high-flying efforts. He was placed fifth in the
15-16 years synchronised trampolining, first in the 1314 years “double-mini”—“for that you have to do a series of jumps on low trampolines,” Nicholas explained—and first in the 13-14 years straight trampolining. The team also competed in the Australian Open championships, which were run at the same time. As well as
competitors from other parts of New Zealand, there were Australian and Japanese ; trampoliners in Brisbane for the championships. “The competition was ; really tough,” Nicholas said. Nicholas, a fourth former at St Thomas’s, is a member of the “Supertramp” trampo.lining club in Christchurch, and is coached by Mrs Charmaine Dawe.
