Mr L. H. Mirams
A man regarded as New Zealand’s leading authority on rotary engines. Mr L. Holden Mirams, has died in Auckland. He was 75. Mr Mirams was born in Christchurch and was educated at Christ s College and the then Canterbury University College. He worked as a branch manager of Wakefield Engineering in Dunedin before serving in World War II as a captain jn the Army. When British Petroleum N.Z.. Ltd, was formed. Mr
Mirams was engaged as a technical representative. In 1953, he was promoted to the post of lubricants manager, one which he held until his retirement in 1965. Mr Mirams, who was twice,, chairman of the New Zealand division of the Institute of Automotive and Aeronautical Engineers, toured the country from 1962 to 1964 giving lectures and radio and television interviews on the Wankel rotary engine and the hovercraft.
