Chch judges to sit in Family Court
Parliamentary reporter Three District Court judges in Christchurch have been appointed to sit in the new Family Court which will begin sittings on October 1. The appointments of Judges Palmer, Bisphan, and McAloon was announced yesterday by the Minister of Justice (Mr McLay); Judge Headifen, of Nelson, will also be warranted to the Family. Court Bench. Mr D- J- Tucker, the Crown Solicitor at Greymouth, has been appointed a District Court Judge at Napier.
A senior partner in the Greymouth firm of Guinness and’Kitchingham, Mr Tucker has been Crown Solicitor at Greymouth since 1957, and is a former pupil of Greymouth Main Primary School and Greymouth High School. He was admitted to the Society of Accountants in 1948 and later completed a law degree extra-murally at the University of Canterbury. From 1975 to 1977 Mr Tucker was president of the Westland District Law Society and, was a member of the New Zealand Law Council.
