Christ’s College in rugby final
PA Nelson Christ's College and Wellington College will meet in Nelson tomorrow in the final of the annual quadrangular secondary schools rugby tournament.
Both teams had good wins in yesterday’s first-round matches. Wellington demolished Wanganui Collegiate, 31-6, and Christ's College beat Nelson College, 14-6. Christ's College was better than Nelson in most areas of play and had a real matchwinner in the centre, Bill Lawrence. Lawrence scored one try and always looked dangerous near the ball. Christ’s College outplayed Nelson in the forwards where the captain, Don Chamberlain, and the No. 8, Nick Leggett led the side well.
Christ's College 14: N. Leggett, E. Lawrence, R. McGee, tries; Lawrence conversion. Nelson College 6: D. Couper two penalties.
