Youth Band selected
A 47-member National ’■ Youth Band) has been selected to take part in street marches’and marching < displays in Nelson, Blenheim, and Westport in January. The players, who are all x aged under 19. were selected-J from bands throughout New-i Zealand. They were, audios tioned by the musical direc-v tor of the Brass Band’s Association. Mr K. Jarrett, and will be drilled by Mr S, Leader, of Christchurch’s Skellerup Woolston Band. The band’s manager will be Mr G. Aldridge. ’ Members of the band who live in the circulation area of “The Press” are: C. Phillips, K, McMorrart, B. HoyV(solo cornets), P. Bdurke (second
cornet), G. Sullivan (bbrn), S. Neil (euphonium), dhd P. Davidson /(baritone)/, all of the Skellerup Woolstbn Band; L. Hobsori (horn), of- the, Addington Workshops Band; C. O’Toole/ (solo /cornet). B.
O’Toole’, M. O’Toole (trombone), arid J. Wood (Eb bass), all of-the Westport Municipal Band; and M. Doyle (euphonium) and'C. Natapu (baritone), both of the Blenheim' Municipal Band.
