Christchurch Boys' High School A scored its sixth win from as many matches to ensure itself of a place in the grand final of “The Press" chess team's competition. With one round remaining in the premier grade, it would seem that Christchurch A will meet Shirley A in the play-off. Shirley has a deferred match against Ashburton. but it must be favoured to win that contest and its final round match against Christ's College.
