Traffic lights

Sir.—l am writing for the installation of traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing at the perpendicular corner of Blenheim and Wharenui Roads. I walk across the four-lane Blenheim Road into Wharenui Road every week day. After departing from my afternoon bus which travels down this freeway I often have to run across a lane to avoid fast-moving cars, either travelling on Blenheim Road or driving into a lane from Wharenui Road. Last week I witnessed a very serious accident that could have been avoided if traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing had been installed. Surely, we do not have to wait until someone is killed for this corner to be made safe for both drivers and pedestrians.—Yours, etc..
