Calves to Nelson?
Canterbury bobby calves normally slaughtered at the Islington works of Waitaki N.Z. Refrigerating may have to be sent to the company's Nelson works because of a strike at Islington. The calf slaughtering season begins in late August. The company is looking at
the alternative arrangements because a two-week-old strike by its meat workers has delayed the clearing of stores to make room for the veal. The meat workers will meet again today to review their strike, over the appointment of a locomotive driver.
