Man’s home attacked
PA Napier Vandals ransacked the home of an 89-year-old World War II veteran while he lay in hospital recovering from serious facial wounds inflicted by robbers 11 days ago. They smashed the bathroom window of Mr Fred Badley’s home and once inside hurled eggs, scattered milk, and emptied the con-
tents of the fridge round the living area. Senior-Sergeant Graeme Sawyer said the police were alerted by a neighbour who heard the sound of smashing glass coming from the direction of the bach on Saturday afternoon. Windows were smashed, furniture upended, and cans of beer drunk. The offenders had vanished from the scene by the time the police arrived.
