Success for rowers
NZPA correspondent London The New Zealand rowing eight continued their build-up for the world championships at Munich with a comfortable win in the Danish national regatta at Lake Bagsvaerd near Copenhagen on Saturday.
They covered the 2000metre course in 5m 52.145ec, llsec ahead of the Norwegian national crew, with a West German club side third 16sec behind the Norwegians.
"It was a bit of an anticlimax in a way because the London Rowing Club crew who were supposed to be in the race didn't turn up." the New Zealand manager, Mr Tony Popplewell, said from Copenhagen.
