PA Sydney The winner of the next year’s Inter-Dominion pacing championships in Perth will receive a record sAustlOO,ooo ($NZ137,000).
The recent Australian Trotting Council meeting approved minimum prize money of sAust26o,ooo (?NZ356,200) for the series in March.
The grand final will carry a total of sAustl6o,ooo ($NZ226,000) in prize money. The winner’s purse is the largest prize ever offered for a single harness race in Australia.
B.P. Australia has agreed to sponsor the championship
iAustBo,ooo ($NZ109,600).
Nominations for the event close on January 18 with handicaps released on January 27, first acceptance fees taken on February 8 and final acceptances announced on February 15. The four race nights will be March 5,9, 12, and 19.
The council approved a subsidy of sAust6soo
(SNZB9OS) for horses from New Zealand taking part. The council also announced the dates for the seven other major grand circuit events this season. They Are: — Australian Pacing Championship in Sydney on November 13, 17 and 20. the Western Australian Pacing Cup on December 18, 26 and January 2, Tasmanian Pacing Championship on December 26, 28 and January 2. South Australia Winfield Cup January 23, N.S.W. Craven Filter Miracle Mile January 29, Victoria A.G. Hunter Cup February 20, and the Queensland Craven Filter Championship June 19.
