Marlb. works for win

PA Blenheim Marlborough made it two out of two in the South Island second division rugby championship with a 27-0 win over Buller at Blenheim on Saturday.

However, it was forced to work much harder for its win that the score indicates.

The gutsy display by a smaller Buller pack and a back-line which gave nothing away prevented anv' score for the first 35 minutes.

Marlborough finally put its game together to produce four tries, all sunerb efforts with backs and forwards combining in moves ' which swept more than half the length of the field.

Marlborough owed much to its flankers Geoff Bryant and the captain, Dave Neal: Bryant for his tackling and retrieving, Neal for his constructive support play.

The prop. Richie Banks, and the flanker, Des Taylor, were the pick of the Buller pack.

Scorers: Marlborough: lan McAlpine, Brian Ford, Barney Thomas, Jim Love, tries; Steve Marfell four conversions and a penalty goal.
