Retired magistrate dead
A retired stipendiary magistrate, Mr M. C. Astley, formerly of Auckland and for the last few years living in Blenheim, died last-week. He was 80. Mr Astley served mostly in the Auckland province. On retirement he sat on a number of tribunals, mostly associated with the New Zealand Railways, and for a time served as a relieving magistrate. including Christchurch and Marlborough circuits. Mr Astley served with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. in World War 11.
