Snow affects traffic
Snow continued to affect traffic on South Island highcountry roads yesterday. The Automobile Association (Canterbury) reported that chains were essential on State Highway 73 at Arthur’s Pass and Otira, where it was snowing heavily at nightfall. Chains were advisable on the Lewis Pass. The Haast Pass was clear.
