Writs now total $1.45M.
PA ■ Auckland Writs totalling $1.45 million were filed against newspapers last week by the former National member of Parliament for Taupo. Ramon John La Varis. The latest, filed in the High Court at Auckland on Friday, claims $150,000 from the Christchurch Press Company. Ltd. Mr La Varis also sues the "Manawatu Evening Standard;" Hawke's Bay Newspapers; Allied Press. Ltd: and R. Lucas and Son (“Nelson Evening Mail”). Ltd. for $300,000 each. His action against the Northern Publishing Company, Ltd; claims $lOO,OOO. The writs concern a report about Mr La Varis distributed by the Press Association and printed in the papers named.
