Avon Loop house for disabled person?
An Avon Loop house may be bought by the Christchurch City council under the Government’s Community Housing Improvement Programme ant renovated for use by a dis abled person. Such a purchase was re commended yesterday by th< council’s housing and pro perty committee. The architect for the Inter national Year of Disable Persons access, accdmmoda tion,. and mobility focus com mittee has found a suitabl property in an inner-cit
area which is the City Council's first official housing improvement area. Mr K. R. McNeil, the housing and property director, said that enough money had been provided in this year's estimates to buy and improve two houses under the scheme. The City Council would buy the property, renovate it. and then offer it for sale.. Even though the council would prefer a buyer, it would be willing to rent the house bought for a disabled person.
