Shivaree will come home

NZPA Brisbane The top Brisbane Cup hope, Shivaree, has been scratched from all his Australian engagements and will probably be brought back to New Zealand next week. Shivaree has strained ligaments in his near-front leg and w’ill be sent for an immediate spell. The Stable manager, Paul O'Sullivan,' said from the Gold Coast the horse would be inspected by a veterinarian. • “But there’s no point continuing with his Australian campaign,” O’Sullivan said. O’Sullivan discovered the injury on Thursday after Shivaree had completed a solid .workout.

"He has had several setbacks during the last 18

months and this is just another bad blow,” he said. Shivaree is trained by Paul’s father, Dave O’Sullivan. “I rang Dad in New Zealand yesterday and we ll decide what to do with Shivaree next week.” The injury has reduced O’Sullivan’s Australian team by half. Their other stable runner, Golden Rhapsody, will attempt to win his second Doomben Cup in July. “He’s coming along nicely,” O’Sullivan said. O’Sullivan admitted that Golden Rhapsody had done “too well” since coming to Brisbane. “He was very gross when he failed in the Southport Cup, but he’s done extremely well since and is slowly getting back to his peak.”
