Barnabas ready for Manawatu Steeples

Special correspondent Palmerston North Barnabas, which looks to have trained on well since winning at Masterton, looked fit in his gallop on the flat at Awapuni yesterday. Barnabas will contest the Melford Steeplechase at the Manawatu meeting next Saturday and a good effort could see him lining up in 'the Manawatu Steeples on the second day. Barnabas galloped on the inside trail which provided good footing But the course proper will be on the heavy side for the first day of the winter meeting.
