League win to Wellington
PA New Plymouth Two tries in the dying stages of the match gave Wellington victory in its representative rugby league clash with Taranaki at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth on Monday. Tries by T. Haua and J. Leulua, and a G. Katene conversion in the last minutes hauled Wellington back from 13-9 deficit to a 21-19 win. Scorers: Wellington 21 (tries, T. Haua 2, M. Henry, T. Tua, J. Leulua; conversions. G. Katene 2. penalty, G. Lajpold) Taranaki 19 (Tries, H. Robinson, G. Gall, G. West, F. Tuuta, W. Southern; conversions, W. Rona 2). The referee was Mr B. Cooper (Waikato).
