Values views

Sir,—l would like to thank your -reporter, Karfen Beanland, for her generally wellbalanced and, I hope, interesting account of our conversation (May 29). The gremlins did get into your type at one point when you had me opposing the Labour member of Parliament,

Mr Connelly, for his “Labour attitudes.” Lest your readers eel this is an unreasonable oasis for singling out Mr Connelly, let me put this straight. Particular issues on which I wish to oppose Mr Connelly are his excessive concentration on authoritarian solutions to law and order, defence, and women’s rights (particularly the abortion issue). I think it is probably fair to say that on these issues his attitudes are not typical either of other Labour politicians or of Labour Party members. — Yours, etc., ALAN WILKINSON. May 29, 1981.
