Air pollution

Sir,—S. E. Fleming (May 30) has hit the nail on the head. There is no doubt that the best practical means of reducing the , air pollution problem in Christchurch is significantly to reduce the price of electricity. The cost involved would be paid for by reduced health care costs. Unfortunately, the present Government adamantly refuses to do this. •As I see it, the only way the air in Christchurch will get any cleaner is if something positive happens in October this year. Both major contenders have agreed to reduce the price of electricity in Christchurch by 25 per cent. — Yours, etc, J. P. IMAGE. May 30, 1981.
