PA Wellington Young Nationals have called on the Government to negotiate immediately a full free trade agreement with Australia. The Young Nationals Dominion policy conference at The Chateau carried a remit expressing fears that rent schedule of free trade by 1995 was too ’ slow for effective action. The remit mover, Mr Simon Romijn, of Wellington, said the Government had tinkered for too long with the idea of free trade with Aus- ■ tralia. "Nafta has been wholly unsuccessful in bringing

about a full free trade agreement and it is about time ; that we had the opportunity i to buy imported industrial goods in our shops at . a cheaper price,” he said. The remit’s seconder, Mr Grant Pepper, of Victoria University, said, “The current 14-year time scale is too slow. We may loose momentum and again become tied up in spurious political wrangles.” The Young Nationals have been meeting’for two days .at The'Chateau and have considered a variety of remits, • discussed policy papers, and heard addresses by various Cabinet Ministers - and members of Parliament.
