Charter rejected
PA Nelson The Working Women’s Charter has been rejected unanimously by a women's conference in Nelson. The conference of the .Federation of Business and ■Professional Women’s Clubs had before it a resolution from its national executive that the charter be adopted as policy. Thd publicity officer (Mrs L. Harrison-Lee) said, "The
Executive felt that we must speak for ourselves on the charter, which professes to speak for all working women. It considered it was not sufficient to allow other women’s groups to endorse or repudiate the charter on our behalf.” The conference is being attended by 200 delegates and observers from 36 clubs with a total membership of 1398.
