Manawatu superb
PA Palmerston North The defending national rugby champion, Manawatu, came back only two weeks after being walloped, 58-3, by New South Wales in Sydney, to comprehensively beat Counties, 21-16, in a national first division rugby match at Palmerston North yesterday. The fact that Counties came so close to the final score was not a true indication of the game. Manawatu played some superb rugby to score four tries to one, and Counties never really got into the game, relying on four Brett Codlin penalties to keep the scores close.
