W.H.O. post to N.Z. doctor

PA Wellington The Director-General of Health (Dr H. J. H. Hiddlestone) has been elected chairman of the executive board of the World Health Organisation. In announcing the appointment, the Minister of Health (Mr Gair) said Dr Hiddlestone had represented New Zealand at the board’s annual meeting in Geneva since 1973, often as leader of the New Zealand delegation.

Dr Hiddlestone will hold the post for one year. He was elected vice-chairman of the W.H.O. board at last year's meeting. Mr Gair said that Dr Hiddlestone was also a member of the. International Hospital Federation, a post he had held for the last five years.
