The Australian Telecommunications Employees’ Association federal secretary, Mr Bill Mansfield, said that unless the Arbitration Commission full bench gave its approval for Telecom to negotiate privately on pay claims' with the two unions, he would expect Telecom to start '*■ standing-down many union members.
