Qantas rescue
Qantas came to the rescue of 90 Christchurch-bound Air New Zealand passengers stranded at Sydney yesterday. Their flight, TEI46, was cancelled when the DCB developed engine trouble soon after taking off from Wellington for Sydney at 7.30 a.m. The DCB flight TEI4I, which was scheduled to arrive in Sydney at 9 a.m., was diverted to Auckland where its passengers were transferred to an Air New Zealand DCIO
A faulty engine on the DCB’ had to be replaced. Passengers waiting at Sydney for TEI46 were hurriedly transferred to a Qantas flight, the departure of which was delayed 45 minutes.
