Air pollution

Sir,—Christchurch's, pollution is indeed a problem and once again we are being exhorted to use electricar heating rather than open fires. This certainly would.' help to solve air pollution but is impractical as already many households find difficulty in paying their already high power bills. With the demise of the gasworks, what alternative is there for those struggling to make ends meet, than to use their open fires.—Yours, etc.. S. E. FLEMING. May 26. 1981.
