Mr Muldoon’s book

Sir.—L. Westney (May 24) looks forward to a three-party coalition government in the New Year. A glimpse of what that could be like was seen on "Newsmakers” of Sunday night. That programme found favour with viewers because it is how democracy ought to work. L. Westney’s comments on Mr Muldoon's books omit one disturbing characteristic in a man who feels impelled to write three books about himself at an unusually early age. As a rule it' is done late in life from journals kept while fully employed in the business of life. The Prime Minister’s literary output just tells us that underneath all that show of strength he is sure neither of himself nor of us. Ho is not convinced his way is right; but for the purpose of his remaining in power, he must use all he has to convince us. Well, that huge deficit just announced is no help. New Zealand should be a co-operative society aiming to pay its way like any sound business or well-run'home. — Yours, etc..
