Jones)-yesterday as “a well-known businessman and sportsman” denied a charge of injuring Raymond John Endacott under circumstances in which had death occurred he would have been guilty of manslaughter. The defendant, aged 35. was remanded on bail of $lOOO by Judge Paterson in

the District Court to July 15 for a defended hearing. .Mr Jones, in seeking bail and the,interim suppression of his client's name, said the alleged offence arose because of an “unfortunate accident.” Sergeant G. G. Cleland said he had been instructed not to oppose bail. The alleged offence was said to have ‘ occurred on Thursday.
