Claim of rape
A forestry hand, aged 17, was charged with raping a woman in Rangiora yesterday morning when he appeared before Mr P. W. C. Prosser, a Justice of the Peace, at a special District Court sitting in Rangiora late yesterday afternoon.
The youth, whose name was suppressed in the interim, was remanded without plea to June 10. Bail, which was not opposed by the police, was set at $2OO with a surety for the same amount. He was represented by the duty solicitor (Mr W. Brown).
