Five charged after street attack

PA Auckland Five persons facing charges relating to the alleged rape and beating of a woman in Auckland early Thursday morning appeared in the District Court at Auckland yesterday. Elizabeth Raukura Te Hune, aged 23, unemployed, of Auckland: Linda Marie Seymour, aged 17, an unemployed machinist, of Ponsonby; Anita Kaipo Leonard, aged .20, a cleaner, of Auckland, Stephen Paul Latimer, aged 20. an unemployed scrub cutter, of Te Atatu

North, and Nigel Peter John Donovan, aged 19, an unemployed labourer, of Te Atatu North, are all charged that on May 28 they caused grievous bodily harm to a woman, with intent. Donovan is also charged with raping the woman. The charges were laid indictably. No pleas were taken. Judge Mahony allowed Seymour $lOOO bail with daily reporting to the police. He remanded the others in custody to June 5 when a date for a preliminary hearing will be set.
