Gillis in marathon
; The outstanding Australian “ long-distance runner, Tom i Gillis, will start in the Nike City of Christchurch international marathon tomorrow morning, after all. Gillis, winner of the New Brighton 50 last month, was i earlier thought to be returni ing only as a manager of a i group of Australian, women ; runners, but he told the or- | ganisers yesterday that he ; was fully recovered from the
sd-mile race, and would be a definite starter. Details' of the complete entries were announced yesterday. A total of 1700 have entered. Although 700 of these will run the full marathon, the rest will confine their efforts to the halfmarathon, which will start lOmin after the full marathon field. The main marathon race will start at 10 a.m.
