Marriage troubles
Sir,—ln answer to K. Fielding’s thoughts on divorce, I can only presume the correspondent is a male and I agree that divorce ratings are on the increase. Women are finally able to escape the institution of marriage which for many years, for many women, was more like a prison institution. Because,of new divorce laws, equal shares financially, the woman does not have to put up with the misery that can be inflicted on her by an uncaring partner. Men finally do not have it all their own way. They have to actually try to make it work as well. Surely a man must be comforted to know that now a woman does not have to stay with him for financial reasons alone; it
would be for his other attributes — if he has any. — Yours, etc.. ■
