Parliamentary reporter An increase in the level of frozen chicken imports is not foreseen in the immediate future, according to the Under-Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Talbot). He told the Poultry Processors’ Association that this was clear from discussions so far between the New Zealand and Australian Governments over closer economic ties. The proposals so far provided a condition for commo-
dities with no previous trade : history to be traded up to a I level of $200,000, or 5 per ; cent of production, whichJ ever was the lesser. But the package itself, let alone this proposal, had not been agreed upon, Mr Talbot ; said. ’ Frozen chicken imports ’ would only be allowed under ( permit and would be subject to ante-mortem and postmortem inspection, a condition which was not carried out in Australia at present.
