’Chase will he shorter
PA Wellington A notable feature of the Wellington Racing Club’s winter meeting is the shortening of the distance for the Eric Riddiford Steeplechase on the final day. The Riddiford Steeplechase has, in the past, been run over 4800 m but this year the distance has been reduced to 4000 m. The secretary of the Wellington Club, Brian Guthrie, said that support. had been disappointing in the past and it was hoped that the shorter distance might be a more attractive proposition. The stake for the Riddiford this year is $10,650.
