Rugby suspensions
Bub Hepi. a Merivale-Papanui senior forward, was stood down for two Saturdays, until after June 6. when he appeared before the Canterbury Rugby Unions judicial committee last evening. Hepi was ordered off last Saturday for stamping on an opponent. The union's management committee was told that the Merivale-Papanui club, concerned at having senior players ordered off on successive Saturdays, was taking steps .itself to overcome the problem.
D. Woodhill (Sydenham second grade) was also suspended foi two Saturdays. He was chargee with using a boot indiscrimi natcly in a ruck. A Belfast senior B player. P Harris, was stood down for loin Saturdays for kicking an oppo nent on the ground. The chair man of the judicial committee. Mr C. H. J. Rhodes, said that this was an offence which his committee, was determined to stamp out and if four weeks proved an insufficient deterrent the number would be raised.
