$76,000 for appeal
Canterbury and the West Coast have given $76,000 to this year’s crippled children appeal — and the money is still coming in. About $66,000, of this amount, has been collected from the Christchurch area alone, said the manager of
the Canterbury and West Coast branch of the Crippled Children Society, Mr R. R. Mitchell. The $76,000 figure takes in Ashburton and most of the West Coast. But proceeds from a few country districts - had still to come, he said.
