Andretti awarded race
NZPA Indianapolis Mario Andretti was yesterday awarded the victory in Monday’s sixty-fifth running of the Indianapolis 500 when race stewards took first place from Bobby Unser, penalising him one vital lap
for illegally passing several cars. It was the first time in the history of the famed classic that the man who crossed the finish line first did not occupy the place of honour at the victory banquet.
