Rope tow stays
Plans by the popular Mount Dobson commercial ski-field (near Fairlie) to replace its learners’ tow with a platter lift for the 1981 winter had to be abandoned when the required financial assistance was not forthcoming. There has, however, been further maintenance on the 13km access road and the left-hand side of the main rope tow has been
lengthened right to the top. thus falling in line with the right-hand side of the (double) tow. A tow shed has been built over the main tow motor. This winter Nigel Palmer, of Temuka, will again be the ski school director and the adult lift fee will be $7. The children’s prices have been split with a $5 outlay for secondary school pupils and $4 for primary school pupils.
