Gorge Bridge closed
State Highway 72 at the bridge over the Waimakariri Gorge will be closed for periods until June 13. the Automobile Association (Canterbury) reports. The bridge may be closed for periods of 55 minutes while strengthening work is done. It will be open for five minutes every hour, on the hour.
The bridge will be closed for the whole day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Monday, May 18. The Automobile Association said that no by-pass would be available.
Width restrictions will also apply during the work. Traffic will be restricted to vehicles no more than 3.3 m wide.
