Contract bridge win
A Canterbury contract bridge team led throughout to beat the visiting Australian national team, 118 points to 93, at the week-end. The match was played in five sets and the Canterbury team was Kathie Boardman,
Jane Evitt, John Wignail (captain), Kris Wooles, Roy Kerr and Stephen Burgess. This match completed the Australians’ tour. Earlier they had beaten both Wellington and Otago and lost narrowly to New Zealand at Auckland.
