Union membership

Sir, — The letter by B. S. Hall (May 6) on union membership is based on the assumption that all bosses are evil and “exploit” workers (common union indoctrination). If this were true then people would voluntarily band together in unions for protection as they have in Poland against the suppressive Communist (no choice) boss. His suggestion that we should be willing to give up our freedom of choice is the same ploy the Communist uses in advocating communism. You could use this same argument to say that Church should be compulsory because if people were made to be Christians there wouldn’t be any strife; it just doesn’t work. You cannot force a person to have the same opinion as you do. — Yours, etc., ANN LAURIER. May 7, 1981.
