Councillors send pro-tour message
A group of local body councillors have rebelled against their. respective mayors and council, chairmen who signed a telegram asking the Government to stop the Springbok rugby tour.
The councillors issued a statement yesterday disassociating themselves from the statements . contained in the telegram.
“This matter has not been debated at our councils, nor do we believe it should be,” they said. The statement was. signed

The., group said that they supported; the chairman of the Paparua County Council, Mr J. Y. Pethig, who said that the tour was out of local bodies’ authority.
