Howitzer sold

Special Correspondent Wellington The two-year-old colt, Howitzer, which showed great promise from the Dave O’Sullivan stable, has been sold to a client of the Colin Hayes stable in Adelaide. The sale was negotiated by Peter Kelly, of Wrightson Bloodstock. Howitzer, a co t by Regalis II from Stuka, raced just four times. He won the Juvenile Handicap at Hastings last month and was second at both Egmont and Franklin. His more recent start brought a ninth placing in the Ellerslie Sires Produce Stakes. The colt is a brother to Dive Bomber, second topweight colt on the 1974-75 Free Handicap which won five races, including the Eclipse Stakes and the Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes. He is also a brother to the Bergin .two-year-old award winner, Heidelberg, head of the 1976-77 Free Handicap, whose dozen wins also included the Eclipse Stakes, as well as the Great Northern Champagne Stakes, the Taumarunui Cup and the American Flying 1200 at Avondale.
