Meat waste discharge considered
An application for a right to discharge treated meat wastes into the south branch of the Waimakiriri River has been considered by the North Canterbury Catchment Board's water tribunal. The tribunal recommended that a final draft of the discharge right application from the North Canterbury Wool and Fellmongery Company, Ltd, be sent on to the North Canterbury Catchment Board. Certain conditions, relating to the quality of the final discharge to the. south branch, were set out in the draft. They require that results. of sampling, from this discharge and ’ the company's waste outflow to the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company's pipeline,, be supplied to the Regional Water Board.
