Golf appointment
Mr Alan Crawford-Smith, an experienced administrator and top member of the Avondale Woodward Cup team, has been appointed to the Canterbury golf selection panel. Mr Crawford-Smith will replace the long-serving Mr Merv McNally who was forced to resign through ill health. Mr Bernie Glubb remains the convener of the panel and his fellow sectors are Mr Hec Reid and Mr Crawford-Smith. The new president of the Canterbury Golf Association is Mr Doug Cresswell, who was elected to that
position at the body's management committee last evening. The vicepresident is Mr Matt Robinson. Canterbury has accepted an invitation from the Southland association to be represented by a five-man team in the Southland charity tournament at Oreti Sands on June 13 and 14.
