Road to be closed
The road through the reserve next to the Sign of the Takahe will be closed. The Heathcote County Council has decided to close the road to all but service vehicles belonging to Heathcote and the Christchurch City Council. The decision was made after complaints about vandals throwing stones and annoying residents. Improve-ment-will be made to the road to reduce the likelihood
of stone-throwing. The City Council will be asked to put a locked gate on the entrance to the reserve. Cr -J. Richardson said that he did not like to see any reserve closed off. He tried, unsuccessfully, to stop the county from making the decision to close the road. The county chairman, Mr W. M. Hindmarsh said that the council was only stopping cars from entering the reserve.
